$18.85-22.52 per hour

THE POSITION

The Lowell School District seeks outstanding, highly qualified candidates for a part time postion working with the Technology Director to support, maintain and implement District technology services.

 

 

DUTIES:

 

Organizational

  1. Work with Technology Director to develop and periodically update a long-range technology plan
  2. Work with Technology Director to keep annual timelines for implementation of the technology plan
  3. Monitor and update a current inventory of computers and other equipment for the system
  4. Monitor and update a software inventory and ensure that all software licenses are up-to-date
  5. Be familiar with documentation and records on the District network
    1. Security policies
    2. Groups and group policies
    3. User login information
    4. Physical layout of the network
    5. Logical organization of the network
    6. Equipment replacement schedule

 Instructional

  1. Assist with planning at the system and building levels for the instructional use of technology
  2. Assist subject area committees in setting goals related to the use of technology in instruction and selecting compatible software when new texts or materials are purchased
  3. Attend technology related committees when appropriate, in order to help coordinate the applications of technology
  4. Review current literature on computers and technology and disseminate this information to end users when applicable
  5. Obtain appropriate training and professional development to keep up-to-date on applicable technology
  6. Help facilitate easy use of computers and technology by staff and students
  7. Report to the Technology Director on progress achieved in meeting technology goals

 Technical

  1. Provide recommendations and specifications for acquisition of computer equipment, software and related resources
  2. Assist with the selection and purchase of equipment and support materials needed to reach system goals
  3. Obtain troubleshooting tools and establish a troubleshooting approach
    1. Diagnose computer hardware and software problems
    2. Provide repair and maintenance on equipment (or arrange to have it repaired)
    3. Work with Technology Director to maintain upgrade and repair records
    4. Follow appropriate LAN maintenance procedures
    5. Optimize placement of equipment
    6. Identify network drops
    7. Work with director on maintaining network maps
  4. Install and configure technology devices and equipment
  5. Monitor status and upkeep district LAN, network servers and data backups
  6. Assist staff in operating equipment, using software programs and adapting technology to individual needs

  1. Quickly acquire a working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
  2. Plan, organize, prioritize and complete a high volume of work in a calm, timely and efficient manner
  3. Analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action
  4. Interpret and apply department policies and procedures
  5. Ability and desire to increase skills and experience through professional development training as required by the District
  6. Compile information, maintain extensive records and prepare reports as needed within the department
  7. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to staff and community
  8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  9. Ability to work flexible hours, attending early morning or evening meetings when needed
  10. Ability to be assigned complex additional duties and assignments as needed
  11. Perform support functions requiring independent judgment, decision making and problem solving
  12. Research information and compose memos, letters and other correspondence in a professional manner as directed

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 80 pounds occasionally (safety equipment is available if needed). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands and the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the current collective bargaining contract.

Salary will be determined by terms of the current negotiated salary schedule. The amount due under the contract will be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.
